ipl-cricket_HRFeG_1818th April 2008 may be a red letter day for BCCI and for Indian cricket fans but this IPL’s impact on international cricket in long terms is going to be negative somehow. As the days are passing viewers are getting really nail biting matches which is the real secret of IPL success but this kind of entertainment is going to kill interest of viewers from the other forms of cricket especially the real cricket called test cricket. People are getting used to these T20 matches which is going to take their 3 to 4 hours rather than 5 days taken by test matches and 9 to 10 hours of 50 overs one days.

Meanwhile there are so many controversies going on in this event and we should be ready for more. It is also creating a kind of pressure to perform in the mind of the players who have got handsome amount from the owners. these owners are mainly big guns of India like SRK and Dr. Mallya. They want to see their teams winning any how as they have invested a huge amount of money. So they will also pressurize the player to perform better. And somehow it is going to infect the sportsmanship.

Well so many negatives are mentioned but still there are some positives about IPL like domestic cricketers are getting better exposure and environment of international level matches. At the same time they are making their pockets heavy too.

Yes, you have a valid point, So many so far unheard domestic players have got opportunity to prove their ability. At the same time, the Cricketers are pocketing handsome amount. After all it is the age of crass commercialisation.

IPL is actually death of cricket. Except cricket, everything is going on in the tournament. Can you sense the reason behind the suspension of ban on Shaoib? It is the result of the politics played by Indian actor Shahrukh khan, for whom Shoaib have to play, and IPL chairman Lalit Modi. Shahrulh convinced Lalit Modi to keep pressure on PCB to suspend the ban till the last Match of IPL. isn't it death of cricket.

the real cricket called test cricket...the so called real cricket is so boring that i fail to understand what's the use of watching or rather following it for 5 odd days. if a game has no point of entertainment i think it should be stopped to call it a game.

For me watching the new version of cricket T20 is the real cricket. for all the controversies and entertainment i am a big fan of IPL.

Anything which entertains is good and when you afford to watch the match over a nice round of popcorns, it sounds very football like. Agreed the real form of cricket is test cricket but who has all that time to be glued to the TV sets for five long days. This is probably the only way, cricket would go global and that world India would be a super power. Let the test cricket be for the cricketers, this is good enough for us.
